YT Overclocked Privacy Policy

Effective September 27, 2026

YT Overclocked is designed to process almost all information locally in your browser. We do not operate analytics, advertising, telemetry, user accounts, or tracking systems.

Prominent disclosure

YT Overclocked includes an optional feature called Show estimated dislikes.

When this feature is enabled, YT Overclocked sends the YouTube video ID of the video you are currently viewing to the Return YouTube Dislike API at https://returnyoutubedislikeapi.com/votes so that the extension can retrieve and display an estimated dislike count.

Because the video ID identifies the YouTube video currently being viewed, it may be considered browsing activity.

This request is made only to provide the estimated dislike feature. YT Overclocked does not use the video ID for advertising, analytics, profiling, tracking, or any other purpose.

The request also exposes information normally associated with an HTTPS connection to the third-party service, including your IP address.

You can prevent these requests by disabling Show estimated dislikes in YT Overclocked's settings.

Information processed locally

The following features operate locally in your browser:

YT Overclocked does not record microphone audio or YouTube audio. Audio processing performed by the extension occurs locally and audio is not transmitted to us or to third parties.

Information sent to third parties

YT Overclocked does not send information to the developer's servers.

When Show estimated dislikes is enabled, the extension sends the current YouTube video ID to the Return YouTube Dislike API.

The extension does not intentionally send:

The Return YouTube Dislike service receives the network information normally associated with an HTTPS request, which may include your IP address.

Return YouTube Dislike is an independent third-party service and has its own privacy practices.

Browsing activity

YT Overclocked does not create or maintain a browsing history.

The extension accesses information about the YouTube page you are currently using only when needed to provide its features.

For the estimated dislike feature, the current video's YouTube video ID is sent to Return YouTube Dislike as described above.

The developer does not receive, store, sell, or maintain a history of these video IDs.

Storage

YT Overclocked uses Chrome extension storage to save preferences required for the extension to work.

Settings and keyboard shortcuts may be stored using chrome.storage.local and, when supported and enabled by Chrome, chrome.storage.sync.

Data stored through Chrome Sync may be synchronized by Google between browsers where you are signed into Chrome. Google's handling of Chrome Sync data is governed by Google's own privacy policies.

Your most recently selected playback speed is stored locally.

Video markers are stored temporarily in the current tab's session memory, are limited to 100 entries, and are removed when that tab is closed.

Temporary dislike data

Estimated dislike responses may be cached temporarily by the extension's service worker for up to 10 minutes to avoid unnecessary repeated requests.

This cache is used only to display estimated dislike information and is not used to create a viewing history or user profile.

Exported settings

If you choose to export your YT Overclocked settings, the exported file may contain extension preferences and keyboard shortcuts.

Exported settings do not contain your YouTube video IDs, browsing history, account information, audio, or video markers.

The exported file remains under your control and is not automatically uploaded or transmitted by YT Overclocked.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

YT Overclocked does not use:

Accounts

YT Overclocked does not require or provide a YT Overclocked account.

The extension does not attempt to access your Google or YouTube account credentials.

Data retention

The developer does not operate a server that collects or stores user data from YT Overclocked.

Locally stored extension settings remain in your browser until they are changed, cleared, or the extension is removed.

Temporary dislike information may remain in the extension's service worker cache for up to 10 minutes.

Third-party services may retain information according to their own privacy policies.

Security

Any request made by YT Overclocked to the Return YouTube Dislike API uses HTTPS.

YT Overclocked does not intentionally transmit passwords, authentication tokens, YouTube cookies, or Google account credentials.

Removing YT Overclocked

Removing YT Overclocked from Chrome removes extension-specific local storage according to Chrome's extension storage behavior.

Data that Chrome has synchronized through Chrome Sync or information previously processed by an independent third-party service may be subject to Chrome's or that third party's own retention practices.

Children's privacy

YT Overclocked does not knowingly collect personal information from children and does not operate accounts, analytics, advertising, or developer-controlled data collection systems.

Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated if YT Overclocked's features or data practices change.

If the policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
