role

Mechatronics Engineering Intern at the University of Waterloo's fabrication and prototyping clinic, supporting undergraduate and graduate student projects across 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, and PLC programming.

achievements
  • Advised 100+ undergraduate, master's, and PhD students on DFM/DFA best practices for industrial FDM/SLA 3D printing (Form 2/3, Raise3D, Cubicon), Epilog laser cutting, and CNC milling
  • Designed and prototyped 8+ course deliverables in SolidWorks — including a 3rd-year mechatronics Ball Balancer — optimized for hybrid manufacturing and batch production of 50+ units per cohort
  • Programmed and validated 2 PLC-based conveyor sorting systems in Siemens TIA Portal using ladder logic and Function Block Diagram; simulated in Factory I/O, achieving 99% sorting accuracy; designed Raspberry Pi–controlled deflector mechanism deployed across 20+ lab stations
